Nia C. Mathis is General Counsel and Head of Infrastructure & Energy at Eve & Co. Eve & Co specializes in helping corporations develop trusted stakeholder relationships that fast-track infrastructure and development projects to ensure success and deliver growth. Eve & Co surfaces actionable insights grounded in neighborhood-level engagement and deep data analytics with a focus on mitigating risk and creating long-term value.
Prior to joining Eve & Co, Nia spent 17 years at Verizon as an executive supporting business growth across a range of business functions, including serving as general counsel to a $10B revenue-generating business unit and to an incubated start-up; leading public policy, lobbying and community engagement across 22 states; engaging with Verizon investors on ESG and sustainability matters; developing 5G and Internet of Things products; and negotiating high technology transactions.
Prior to joining Verizon, Nia practiced law at the Washington, DC offices of Latham & Watkins and Wiley Rein. She graduated from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida.
Nia is a mother of five who is married to her high school sweetheart. They reside in the Chicago suburb of Flossmoor. She is active in her local faith-based community and is passionate about providing excellent legal and business expertise and guidance not just to the top 1% of corporations but to small, Black- and women-owned businesses.
