Jahleesa I AM Phelps

Executive Director | Black Venture Capital Consortium

“Jahleesa Phelps, an Atlanta native, is a passionate advocate for the arts and a rising leader in the nonprofit space. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Black Venture Capital Consortium (BVCC), where her journey is a testament to both vision and dedication.

Her connection to BVCC began during her time at North Carolina A&T State University, where she studied Business Entrepreneurship and Sociology. In 2021, she participated in BVCC’s Venture Capital Internship—an experience that sparked a deeper commitment to expanding access and opportunity. Motivated to bring that impact to her peers, she founded the NCAT student-led chapter of BVCC, creating a pathway for other students to engage with venture capital early on.

After graduating in 2022, Jahleesa joined BVCC full-time as Curriculum Program Manager. In this role, she led the execution of the organization’s flagship Career Track Curriculum Program and supported university chapters across nine institutions, helping scale BVCC’s reach and influence. Her leadership, strategic thinking, and unwavering commitment to the mission quickly set her apart. Within two years, she was promoted to Program Director, and in May 2025, she stepped into the role of Executive Director.

Jahleesa is deeply committed to the personal and professional advancement of young adults nationwide. She firmly believes in the untapped talent within HBCUs and sees the venture capital and tech ecosystem as powerful engines for expanding access and driving economic mobility. That belief continues to fuel her work at BVCC, where she is shaping pathways for the next generation of leaders and innovators.”
