“Ronnie L. Brown is an educator and researcher dedicated to advancing engineering education through computational thinking and innovative pedagogy. As an Assistant Professor of Engineering Science at the University of the District of Columbia, he co-leads the development of the Maker Space in Engineering & Applied Science (MEAS) Lab and integrates open pedagogy and project-based learning frameworks to enhance student learning in the classroom.
A steadfast proponent of equity in opportunity for engineering and engineering entrepreneurship (a focus of his HUxPNC Fellowship research) Ronnie works to dismantle barriers to entry in technical fields. This commitment to accessibility extends to his community work as the founder of ‘STEMbelievable’, a forthcoming initiative that provides youth education in robotics, rocket science, and computational thinking.
Additionally, Ronnie manages the educational YouTube channel @urbcon_educ, providing accessible tutorials on mathematics and engineering, and is the published author of a guide on mathematical study skills. His work consistently seeks to bridge the gap between complex technical concepts and diverse student populations, fostering a more inclusive landscape for the next generation of innovators.”
